Mussi Scores Twice as Saline Blanks Troy Athens, 2-0 in Soccer

A strong team effort fueled Saline to a 2-0 win over host Troy Athens in varsity soccer action Thursday evening.

Eddie Mussi scored both goals for the Hornets.

The first goal came on a throw-in by Andrew Prince. The second goal was set up on a cross from Victor Pintile.

Coach Dan Restrick said the team bounced back after a tough loss to Livonia Stevenson earlier in the week.

“We made some defensive adjustments that I think really helped us,” Restrick said. “Our back line of defense (Mark Sulavik, Luke Collins, Zach LeRolland-Wagner and Ryan Gauche) was extremely solid and worked very hard for the win.”

Goalkeeper Kyler Jacobs had a great game in net, Restrick said.

“This was a full team effort and we put together a complete 80 minutes, which was our main goal, going into the game,” Restrick said.

Saline hosts Brighton at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
