Pittsfield Woman Estimates Weight of Styrofoam Bale, Wins Prize Package
Contestants of all ages could place their best guess on the weight of a large Styrofoam bale at the recent Passport 2 Pittsfield event.

During the Open House, held by Pittsfield Charter Township on April 17, the Department of Utilities & Municipal Services held a “Guess the Weight Contest,” where contestants of all ages could place their best guess on the weight of a large Styrofoam bale, provided by Recycle Ann Arbor. The prize — a recycling gift package — was sponsored by Republic Services, Inc.
Thirty-seven entries were submitted, with guesses that ranged from as low as 2 pounds to as high as 2,000 pounds. There was only one winner, however, whose guess was the closest to the correct weight of 182 pounds.
Pittsfield Township resident, Terri Rose, guessed “205 pounds, 10 ounces,” making her the winner of the recycling gift package. The prize included a Soho Green Paper Shredder, Republic Services travel mug, reams of recycled paper, his and hers hats, coloring books, pens, pencils, playing cards, toy trucks and more.
