Parking Lot Death Ruled a Suicide

The death of a 48-year-old Van Buren Township man found in the parking lot of Automotive Components Holdings was ruled a suicide.

Saline police investigated the scene just after 8 a.m. March 26. The man, an employee of ACH, was ruled dead at the scene by the medical examiner. The Washtenaw County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that the wound was consistent with a self-inflicted shotgun wound. The man had gone on break at 7 a.m. and never returned to work.

Police learned from interviews with other employees that the victim was depressed.

Girl Suffers Minor Injuries After Dog Attack

A 7-year-old girl returning home from school was treated for minor injuries after being attacked by a dog Thursday. The girl and her sister were walking along Woodland Drive near Berkshire when they saw a young woman walking a German shepherd. The girl told police the woman told the dog to sit and allowed them to pet the dog. When the 7-year-old leaned over to pet the dog, the dog growled, jumped up and attacked. The girls ran home. The 7-year-old suffered a couple of cuts and was treated in the local emergency room. Police searching the neighborhood were unable to find a woman or dog matching the given description.

Woman Fails to Stop for Crossing Guard

A Saline Area Schools crossing guard called police after a driver failed to stop at about 3:45 p.m. Friday.

Crossing guard Lindsay Downie was attempting to help a young boy cross East Woodland Drive near Wildwood Trail when she noticed an oncoming car that wasn’t slowing down. Downie told the boy to stay on the sidewalk and continued out into the street, motioning for the vehicle to sop. The driver didn’t slow down and allegedly flicked her hand at the crossing guard as she drove by. Police were provided with a license plate number and determined that the car was registered to a Jackson woman.
