Police Report: Man Accused of Stealing and Cashing Co-Workers' Checks

A 26-year-old Saline man was arrested at his apartment on suspicion of stealing and cashing checks made out to co-workers. The man is accused of stealing three checks made out to co-workers at Weller’s. He then cashed two of the checks at the Village Party Store, according to police. Police say the theft was caught on video. The man was arrested at his Valley Circle apartment Sept. 10. He faces charges for larceny from a building and uttering and publishing. He was also wanted on an outstanding Michigan State Police warrant.

Police Arrest Saline Woman for Drunken Driving

A 21-year-old Saline woman was arrested for drunken driving Saturday. Saline police said they pulled over the woman after the car she was driving swerved over the double yellow line twice on southbound Maple Road, according to the report. The chemical Breathalyzer test showed a blood-alcohol content of .12 and .13. The legal limit is .08.

Teen Arrested for Drug Possession Outside Dairy Queen

A 17-year-old Ypsilanti teen was arrested for possession of marijuana Saturday. About 2:20 a.m., police checked on two teens they believed were acting suspiciously in a parked Chevy Blazer at the Dairy Queen on Michigan Avenue. The driver, a 17-year-old Milan teen, was ticketed for minor in possession of alcohol and open transport after an open bottle of vodka was found near the driver's seat. A search of the vehicle turned up suspected marijuana in a plastic bag found in the passenger door, police said. A small pipe was found behind the driver's seat and a scale was found in the console. The Ypsilanti teen was arrested and processed at the Saline Police Department and then released.

Saline Man Arrested for Marijuana Possession

An 18-year-old Saline man was arrested for possession of marijuana Sept. 9. At 3:19 p.m., Saline police pulled over a black Ford Excursion for driving over the double yellow traffic line on North Ann Arbor Street. During the arrest, the vehicle was searched. The driver, an 18-year-old Crossville, TN, resident, was cited for having open intoxicants after a large plastic bottle of vodka was found in the console, police said.

Marijuana was found on the 18-year-old Saline passenger, who was arrested, processed and lodged at the police department, according to police.

Saline Man Arrested for Operating While Impaired

A 39-year-old Saline man was arrested for operating while impaired Sept. 9. At 8:30 p.m. Saline police spotted a Dodge Durango with a defective headlight near the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Keveling Street. Police suspected he’d been drinking. After a Breathalyzer test showed a blood-alcohol content of .20, the man was arrested for operating while impaired and ticketed for having open intoxicants in the vehicle.

Man Ticketed After Caught Urinating on Fence

A 32-year-old Saline man was ticketed for disorderly conduct Sept. 9 after police said they spotted him urinating on a fence near the corner of Michigan Avenue and Maple Road. Police spotted a car with its flashers on in the northbound lane on Maple Road near Domino’s about 12:55 a.m. and saw two males cross the street and head toward a house on the corner. The men told police they ran out of gas and were walking to Speedway when they made a pit stop.

Vehicle Windows Smashed Out

An employee at 151 Keveling St. said she had the rear driver's side window smashed out of her 1998 Mercury Mountaineer on Wednesday. She had parked her vehicle in front of the business at 3:45 p.m. At 7 p.m., a customer entered the business and reported that a window had been smashed out of a vehicle in the parking lot.

A resident on the 900 block of Watson Street reported that someone smashed a vehicle window out before 10:40 p.m. Sept. 11. The Ford Focus had been parked on the street earlier that evening. When the owner went out, he saw the back passenger window had been smashed out. There are no suspects.

Ypsilanti Man Arrested for Driving with Suspended License

A 34-year-old Ypsilanti man was arrested Sept. 11 for driving with a suspended license. At about 1 a.m., police stopped a vehicle at Michigan Avenue and Monroe Street for having a tinted front driver's window. Police discovered the driver was operating with a suspended license. He had six current suspensions on his license. His Honda Acura was impounded.

Ypsilanti Man Arrested on Warrant

Police arrested a 22-year-old Ypsilanti man wanted on a warrant out of Pittsfield during a traffic stop Sept. 12. At 2:20 a.m., police stopped a 1995 Ford that crossed the double yellow several times on Michigan Avenue near Mills Street. Police discovered the driver, a 24-year-old Pittsfield man, was driving with a suspended license and that the passenger was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant from Pittsfield Township police. A Pittsfield police officer en route from Clinton took custody of the man.
