Police Report: Saline Man Defrauded Buying Vintage Dolls Online

The following arrest information was gleaned from Saline Police Department reports from June 28 to July 6. It does not indicate a conviction.

Man Wins eBay Auction, Never Sees Item

A Saline man might be out more than $1,000 after he won an eBay auction for a vintage doll, but then failed to ever see it, according to police reports.

On May 6, using a computer at the , the man bid $1,011 on eBay from a seller in New Rockaway, NY.  After being told he had the highest bid, the seller told him Pay Pal was not accepted. So he sent two money orders to the address in New Rockaway. The seller said the item would be shipped, but it never was.

He called the New Rockaway bureau of the New York Police Department and was told to call authorities in Saline. After being contacted, Saline Police contacted New York authorities who said this was a civil matter between the Saline man and eBay. were unable to reach the seller in New Rockaway.

Erratic Driver Arrested

A 28-year-old Leroy man was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while impaired by narcotics July 1. According to police reports, just before noon, a police officer on patrol was flagged down by a motorist on Michigan Avenue who said a Ford Explorer heading east had crossed center and nearly struck other vehicles. Police caught up with the vehicle and enacted a traffic stop after observing the vehicle cross center. The driver was arrested and taken to the emergency room at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Saline for a blood test. He was released to the care of his grandmother, according to reports.

Grass Lake Man Had Suspected Marijuana in Car

A 24-year-old Grass Lake man stopped for a defective headlight was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics July 3. According to police reports, just after midnight; the vehicle was stopped at Michigan Avenue and Harris Street. A green leafy substance believed to be marijuana was found behind the driver’s seat. The man was arrested and taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Saline, where blood was drawn for analysis. His 1996 Dodge Neon was impounded and turned over to America One towing, according to reports.

Ornaments Stolen From Lawn 

A 69-year-old Commons Circle resident told police that someone had stolen two-yard ornaments from her front yard sometime over the last 18 months. She told police she had no idea who might be responsible.
