Saline Amends Tax Break for Expanding Company

A company with plans to expand its investment in Saline was given a boost by .

Kunststoff-Technik Scherer & Trier USA, located at 1294 Beachcourt, is expanding more than company planned when it sought and was granted a tax break in 2009. The German thermoplastics company is planning a $5.4 million investment in Saline. The Sauk Trail Business Park facility is expanding from 73,487 square feet to 106,224 square feet.

Saline City Council unanimously agreed to adopt a resolution to approve the company’s request to amend the 2009 tax abatement to reflect the increased investment.

“We look forward to a successful partnership,” said Mayor Gretchen Driskell. “Thanks for investing in our community.”

Construction is expected to begin in the fall.

According to the company’s application for the tax break, the investment will create 20 new jobs and retain 60 other jobs.

The investment includes more than $2 million in land and building improvements and $3.3 million in personal property.
