Saline Boy Injured When Downed Wire Tangles His Bike

The following arrest information was supplied by the Saline Police Department Records. It does not indicate a conviction.

An 11-year-old Saline boy was injured when he fell after the handlebars of his bicycle were caught on a downed wire on June 2.

The boy was riding his bike at about 2:15 p.m. on the 200 block of Clark Street when his handlebars snagged on a telecommunications wire running from a utility pole over the sidewalk.

Saline Fire Department and Huron Valley Ambulance arrived but the boy, who was believed to have broken his arm, was taken for medical treatment by his mother.

A neighbor told police he had called the phone company about the downed wire several times but that nothing was done about it.

Warrant Sought For Dexter Man Accused of Possession of Marijuana

Saline Police arrested an 18-year-old Dexter Township man on suspicion of possession of marijuana. On May 27, police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Ann Arbor Street.  During the stop, police seized 16.1 grams of marijuana, a scale, pipe and joint roller. The suspect said he had a medical marijuana card but was unable to produce it for police. Police have submitted a warrant request to the Washtenaw County Prosecuting Attorney.

By The Numbers

Between May 22 and June 2, Saline Police issued 38 speeding tickets. In the same time frame, they assisted 13 people locked out of their vehicles. Police also responded to seven animal complaints.
