VIDEO: How To Make Haggis

Elliot MacFarlane gave Saline Celtic Festival visitors a lesson in making the Scottish staple, Haggis.

There were many demonstrations at the Saline Celtic Festival Saturday.

Here's one on making haggis, a traditional Scottish dish made from a sheep's pluck—it's heart, liver and lungs. Add onions, oatmeal and suet, mix it all and let it simmer in the sheep's stomach for about three hours.

This demonstration was given by Elliot MacFarlane, Director of Living History for St. Andrew's Society of Detroit and Clan MacFarlane Society International.

"You get a big sheep you get a big haggis. You get a small sheep, you get a small haggis. Every sheep's stomach is just big enough to make a haggis out of itself," MacFarlane said.
