VIDEO: Students Test Building Skills Against Quake Simulator

Saline Community Education sponsored this after-school program.

They say you build them up to tear them down.

For the last eight weeks, a group of students have been using math skills and engineering principles to build them up, as part of a Saline community education program at every Monday night.

This Monday, it was time to use the earthquake simulator.

The program was led by social worker Joel Benedek, principal Les Sharon, and teachers Melissa Smith, Gerry Harrison and Kevin McCown. All agreed to donate their stipends back to to help fund the purchase earthquake simulator and provide scholarships to students who couldn't afford the program. The Foundation for Saline Area Schools also contributed to the purchase.
