Accomplishments: The Saline High School senior was selected by the Saline Youth Council as Yooth of the Year. Like many teens, Bernard has a busy life, with school, part-time work, high school sports and other activities. But she's also been involved with local charities and a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House. She even started her own cairty. The Mott Blanket Project to provides blankets for patients being treated at the C.S. Mott's Children's Hospital. She plans to expand the charity as she continues her education in college.

Key to Awesomeness: Empathy and a generous spirit. When she was a child, Caterine was treated at a hospital for a health issue. Her aunt brought her a blanket, and she remembered how much the blanket meant to her. Many years later, she still remembers the importance of that gesture, and she decided to do the same for kids who could really use a boost.
