Accomplishments: Patrick is a high school junior who has recently developed a communications software program called gText. For the past three months, he’s been working four to six hours a day on his website and text message notification program. Thanks to a helpful teacher, he’s now also the CEO and President of his own LLC. People who sign up at the gText website can create or subscribe to groups. Once a group is set up, gText acts as a message service within that group. The program is already being used by several Saline high school sports teams and there are plans to use gText as a snow day alert system in the school district. McCarren hopes gText is the start of a software empire.
