Jennifer Morgan, Director/Administrator of the Martha T. Berry Medical Care Facility received the 2013 ATHENA Award Friday at the Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township.

The Director/Administrator of the Martha T. Berry Medical Care Facility received the 2013 ATHENA Award Friday from the Macomb Foundation at the Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township.

Jennifer Morgan took over as Director/Administrator of Martha T. Berry in 2010 and "began to turn things around, implementing changes in programs, policies and personnel as necessary while always maintaining “best quality of care” for all residents. Today, Martha T. Berry operates within approved budgets and Macomb County contributes zero dollars to its budget," according to a release.

Before she took over, the 217-bed skilled nursing facility in Mount Clemens struggled financially and required a "significant county contribution" to meet operational demands.
