Prosecutors said the incident happened during a custody exchange of their child.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — A Utica man has been charged after stabbing his estranged wife to death Sunday at a Macomb County gas station, according to prosecutors.
The incident happened inside the Meijer gas station located on Hall Road near Hayes Road in Shelby Township where officers found 23-year-old Fatme Davis suffering from multiple stab wounds, prosecutors said.
She was taken to a nearby hospital where she died, prosecutors said.

Sidney Emmanuel Davis Jr., 25, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder, which carries a life sentence without parole. He was placed in jail and denied bond. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 7.
Prosecutors said Sidney Davis met his wife at the gas station to exchange custody of their child. Inside the gas station, Sidney Davis beat and repeatedly stabbed Fatme Davis, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said the child was in his mother's car during the incident and has since been placed with his paternal grandmother.
Sidney Davis fled the scene, but was later found in Armada Township with a severe laceration on his hand, prosecutors said.
Officers arresed him and took him to a hospital for treatment, prosecutors said.
"The allegations in this case are both shocking and deeply disturbing," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said. "A young mother was allegedly killed at the hands of her estranged husband, while their child sat waiting in the car. Our office is committed to pursuing this case to the fullest extent of the law to ensure justice is served."
