SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — A Texas man is facing charges after prosecutors said he shot and killed two men at a Macomb County auto shop last week.

Officers made the discovery last Friday at 12:28 p.m. at the Star Auto Sales, located at 47092 Ryan Road, where they found Ghaith Baban, 48, of Clinton Township and Marvan Batoo, 40, of Shelby Township shot dead, according to police.

Terrance Jermaine Sandles, 46, of Houston, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery and drug and weapons charges. He was placed in jail without bond. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 24.

He faces life in prison without parole if convicted of first-degree murder.

An employee called police to report the murders and told police that Sandles recently had a dispute with the business over a vehicle sale, prosecutors said.

Investigators then determined Sandles walked into the auto shop and fatally shot the two men during a robbery. They linked the vehicle at the center of the dispute to Sandles and tracked him to a hotel in Romulus, prosecutors said.

They also recovered other evidence linking him to the shooting and a large quantity of cocaine, prosecutors said.

The victim's families said Sandles purchased a Hummer from the business, but was upset over rust on the vehicle, according to news reports. He demanded his money back and the business owners said no. Sandles then threatened to kill one or both of them and left without the vehicle.

"The allegations in this matter are horrifying. My office will seek justice on behalf of the victims and our thoughts are with the families who have suffered this terrible loss," said Prosecutor Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
