Part of Michigan 53, (Van Dyke Freeway), in Macomb County is closing for bridge work over the three weekends, according to road officials.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — Part of Michigan 53, (Van Dyke Freeway), in Macomb County is closing for bridge work over the three weekends, according to road officials.

Crews will close the southbound lanes on the freeway between Michigan 59 (Hall Road) and 18 Mile Road in Utica to make repairs to the bridge over the Clinton River, according to road officials.

  • 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 - 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11
  • 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 - 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18
  • 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 - 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25

Southbound traffic will be detoured on westbound Michigan 59, south to Mound Road and east onto 18 Mile Road, then back to southbound Michigan 53.

Work on northbound Michigan 53, which began in August, has had completion delayed to the end of the month due to the Utica Road bridge being in worse condition than expected, according to road officials.
