• Meet the Robo-Fairies: How seven fifth graders built a winning robot and a strong team (macombdaily.com) — Students from Messmore Elementary, part of Utica Community Schools, are heading to the state LEGO robotics competition after their all-girl Robo-Fairies team dominated a major regional tournament in Sterling Heights. The fifth graders say the best part is building robots alongside friends while learning coding, problem-solving, and teamwork that their principal believes will serve them well beyond the classroom.

Utica and Dequindre in Shelby Township led to the arrest of a man the FBI lists as a suspected MS-13 gang member, now in federal custody.
