Utica Schools elementary launches Positive You program
Switzer Elementary launched the Positive You program this year to help build student purpose, identity and resilience.

Switzer Elementary launched the Positive You program this year to help build student purpose, identity and resilience. The program is unique as it is year-long, including assemblies, staff meeting presentations and 30 weeks of mentorship session focus groups.
“Positive You equips both students and teachers with tools to navigate challenges with clarity, confidence and compassion,” said Jami Crum, Switzer Physical Education Teacher.
The first assembly was held at Switzer this month with the main message revolving around kindness. Students explored the idea that kindness is a strength, a muscle and something that always multiplies.
Mentorship sessions will begin soon, encouraging real conversations, authentic connections and practical life skills for students.
“What excites me most about this program is that it’s not just a one-time assembly that could fade away. Instead, it provides ongoing mentorship and follow-through throughout the school year,” said Crum.
