Police Investigating Shootout On I-94 In Detroit Area

Two people were hurt after a shootout on Interstate 94 in metro Detroit over the weekend, according to Michigan State Police.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — Two people were injured in a shootout on Interstate 94 in Macomb County over the weekend, according to Michigan State Police.

The shooting happened at 12:55 p.m. Saturday on the eastbound side of the freeway near 10 Mile Road in St. Clair Shores, according to police.

Police said the drivers of two vehicles, a black Chevrolet Malibu and an unknown silver vehicle, were shooting at each other while driving on the freeway.

The driver of the Chevrolet then rear-ended a GMC Acadia, while the driver of the silver vehicle continued east on the freeway, according to police.

Both drivers of the Chevrolet and GMC pulled onto the right shoulder after the crash, according to police.

One of the Chevrolet passengers carried a pistol up the embankment and threw it before returning to the Chevrolet, according to police.

Officers later recovered a 9 mm Glock 19 with a switch in the area, according to police.

Two people who were inside the Chevrolet were taken to a nearby hospital where their conditions were not immediately known, according to police.

Police did not report any other injuries in the incident.

Police were still investigating the incident.
