1 Dead After Crash Involving SMART Bus In Metro Detroit: Police
Police do not yet known what led up to the crash, which they were still investigating.
FRASER, MI — A person was killed in a Monday crash with a SMART bus in metro Detroit, according to police.
The crash happened at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the area of Garfield and Mulvey roads in Fraser, according to police.
Investigators believe the driver struck another vehicle before leaving the roadway, striking a pole and colliding with the bus. The vehicle then caught fire, according to police.

When fire crews extinguished the flames, they found the driver dead inside the vehicle, according to police.
Investigators did not release the driver's name. No one else was inside the vehicle, according to police.

The bus driver and two passengers were able to get out and were treated for minor injuries, according to police.
