WARREN, MI β€” Four men face criminal charges after a Warren gas station shooting took place earlier this month in which the suspects fired shots between two cars, prosecutors announced. Police confiscated 100 pounds of marijuana after the shooting.

The charges stem from an incident on April 11 when police say they received multiple calls from a Marathon gas station on Mound Road. Officers arrived to find several shell casings on the ground and broken glass that was consistent with shots being fired, police said.

Police found a Chevy Blazer on 12 Mile near Mound that had been involved in a minor traffic crash. Officers were able to determine that the car’s occupants were involved in the shooting from surveillance footage, police said.

Police identified the men as Daquan Beasley, 31, of Detroit, Kevin Walton, 24, of Redford, and Shannon White, 29, of Detroit. Officers recovered several thousand dollars in cash and two guns, police said.

An investigation of surveillance footage showed that the individuals in the Blazer had met up with a man inside a Mercedes. Footage showed one person getting into the Mercedes before another person entered the car a minute later, police said. A short time later, the men got out of the Mercedes with white bags, police said. The men then got back into the Chevy and exchanged gunfire with the driver of the Mercedes said.

On April 12, police arrested the occupant of the Mercedes, Matthew Kakos, 23, of Sterling Heights and police seized more than 100 pounds of marijuana, a large amount of cash and three guns from his home, police said.

The Macomb County prosecutor issued charges late on Friday.

Walton was charged with armed robbery (life offense), carrying a concealed weapon (four-year felony) and felony firearm (two-year charge).

Beasley was charged with armed robbery (life offense) carrying a concealed weapon, felony firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon (five-year felony).

White was charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit an armed robbery (life offense), fleeing and eluding (two years), felony firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Kakos faces charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver (seven-year felony) and felony firearm.

Walton’s bond was set at $1.5 million cash/surety only, GPS tether required upon release and no firearm usage or possession. Beasley’s bond was set at $1.5 million cash, with a GPS tether required upon release and no possession or use of a gun. White’s bond was set at $1 million cash, with a GPS tether required upon release and no possession or use of a gun. Kakos’ bond was set at $150,000 cash, with a GPS tether required upon release and no possession or use of a gun.

Walton, Beasley, and White all requested court-appointed counsel. Several of the suspects in this incident have prior narcotic and weapon-related convictions, prosecutors said.
