Finding the Giving Spirit This Holiday Season

By giving time as a volunteer, I received much more in return.

Does St. Clair Shores give back at Christmas time?

The answer is a resounding yes.

I learned this first-hand last Friday morning at on Harper Avenue as I volunteered as a bell-ringer for the Salvation Army.

Though I was only ringing for two hours, plenty of people stopped by to drop some money in the kettle despite the snowy weather.

This month, I also have volunteered for the Salvation Army in Grosse Pointe and Wyandotte as part of Patch’s mission to give back to the community.

There, as in St. Clair Shores, I found the residents to be warm-hearted and caring, and in giving a little of my time, I gained much more from the people I met.
