Gilbert's Owner Plans to Rebuild

The owner of Gilbert's Lodge, which was damaged in an early morning fire Oct. 10, recently said he plans to reopen the landmark restaurant.

"We are going to remodel. We are going to reopen," said Louie Bricolas.

He stated that the renovation will be a "seven-figure" job and the interior of the restaurant has to be completely gutted following the blaze which started in the kitchen area. Through the work of St. Clair Shores fire fighters, the building was able to be saved. 

While he plans to reopen, Bricolas didn't have a completion date.

"Don't even ask me how long," said Bricolas, who has grand plans for the Gilbert's. "It will be better. It will all be brand new."
