Henry Ford, Shorewood Kiwanis and Rubber Duckies Raise Autism Awareness

The first Rubber Ducky Race for Autism was held Saturday at the Chapaton Retention Basin, The event was organized by the Henry Ford Health System, the Shorewood Kiwanis, local businesses and elected officials.

Rubber duckies took over the Chapaton Retention Basin Saturday for the Shorewood Kiwanis and Henry Ford Health System’s Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities fundraiser for autism.

Together with local businesses, elected officials and the Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Anthony V. Marrocco to host the fundraiser to assist families with autistic children who receive applied behavioural analysis therapy through the race. According to organizers, the the costs for treatment through therapy can exceed $50,000 annually.
