'Is Blood Traceable?': Man Arrested In Macomb County Woman's Disappearance: Police

A man arrested in connection with a missing Macomb Co. woman made concerning internet searches, including is blood traceable, police said.

WARREN, MI — A man is facing charges in connection with a missing Warren woman, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

Ashley Lashay Elkins, 30, was last seen leaving her house in Warren at roughly 8:30 a.m. last Thursday, according to police.

Deandre Howard Booker, 32, of Roseville, was charged with lying to a police during a violent crime investigation. He was placed in the county jail with a bond set at $250,000. If he posts bond, he must wear a GPS tether. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 22.

If convicted of the charge, he faces up to four years in prison.

Elkins was reported missing last Friday after her family hadn't heard from her since the previous morning when she went out to run errands, according to police.

Her family told investigators that they received "sporadic and odd texts" from Elkins the day she went missing.

Cell phone records showed that Elkins' cellphone last pinged at a Roseville apartment where her ex-boyfriend, Booker, lived, according to police.

Investigators also found Elkins's 2009-2010 Chevy Malibu in the area of 13 Mile and Little Mack, which is not far from Booker's apartment, according to police.

Officers searched the apartment on Tuesday night and found "significant evidence, including forensics, was recovered and will be further analyzed by the Michigan State Police," according to police.

Officers also seized a dumpster at the apartment for investigative and evidentiary purposes, according to police.

On Wednesday, officers arrested Booker in Flint, according to police.

While in Flint, prosecutors said Booker made concerning internet searches, including:

  • Fastest routes from Flint to Ohio.
  • What to do while on the run.
  • Is blood traceable?
  • How to beat a polygraph test.
  • Deleting Google search history.

Police described Elkins as a woman, standing roughly 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds.
