Man Dies In I-696 Rollover Crash In Metro Detroit: Police
Investigators were still trying to determine if the man was impaired or if he had a medical emergency.

WARREN, MI — A Macomb County man died in a Sunday morning rollover crash on Interstate 696 in metro Detroit, according to Michigan State Police.
The crash happened at 5:25 a.m. Sunday in the westbound lanes on Interstate 696 just east of Dequindre Road in Warren, according to police.
The 51-year-old Sterling Heights man was driving a 2022 Kia Sportage on the freeway just passed Dequindre Road where he drove onto the left shoulder, struck a construction zone sign and hit the left wall, according to police.

The car then crossed all the travel lanes and struck the right-side wall, causing the vehicle to rollover, according to police.
Police said the man was killed in the crash.

Investigators do not know why the man drove off the roadway and were waiting on medical examiner reports to determine if the man was impaired or if he had a medical emergency, according to police.
The freeway was closed for several hours during the investigation but later reopened around 10 a.m on Sunday.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to police.
