Man Injured In Macomb County Police Shooting: Sheriff

Officials said the man slammed into a police car and approached officers with a knife before he was shot.

ROSEVILLE, MI — A man was shot and injured Monday morning after he crashed into a Roseville police car and approached officers with a knife, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened at 4:39 a.m. outside the Roseville Police Department, located on VFW Memorial Drive, officials said.

Officials said a 36-year-old Roseville man was driving a Pontiac G5 and slammed into the back of a fully-marked police SUV outside the station.

The man then got out of the Pontiac and approached officers with a knife, officials said.

Officers told the man to drop the knife, but he refused and officers shot him, officials said.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was listed in stable condition, officials said.

Officials said the officer who was inside the police SUV suffered minor injuries in the crash. The officers who fired the shots were not injured in the incident, officials said.

Officials said the police SUV was legally parked outside the station where officers gathered Monday morning for a service.

No other details were released.

Police were still investigating the incident.
