Marinas Offer Upgrades, Deals for Summer Boating Season

Boaters looking for a place to dock their vessel this summer can find deals, amenities and dredged harbors in marinas throughout St. Clair Shores.

Free popcorn, Wi-Fi and summer discounts are being offered to boaters this year.

St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation Director Greg Esler said the water levels are up and the canal leading to the Lac Sainte Clair Marina, along with the harbor, was dredged earlier this year.

Additionally the city is offering $200 off boat wells, and a $500 incentive for a current boater to bring in a new boater for either the Lac Sainte Clair or Blossom Heath Marina. The boaters can choose how to split the $500 incentive.

If the boaters choose Lac Sainte Clair, even if they are non-residents, they will have access to the Olympic-size pool and waterslide, cabanas and barbecue pits. There is also free Wi-Fi in the park and marina.

"It is a great family atmosphere," said Esler of the Lac Sainte Clair marina. "It has great views and easy access to the lake."

And if boaters are traveling, the city is offering transient wells for $10 a day. Starting July 15, all city wells will be discounted 50 percent.

According to an article in the Detroit News, along with individual websites, marinas in St. Clair Shores offer:

• Jefferson Beach Marina offers free popcorn and XM radio to boaters fueling at the fuel dock, a fitness center and community decks with grill. The harbor was dredged at Jefferson Beach.
• New docks and dredged canals at Michigan Harbor.
• New rack storage and launch at Miller Marina.
