Department issues statement regarding traffic through side streets of Harper Avenue closure

The St. Clair Shores Police Department has addressed the hazard created with the closure of Harper Avenue between Lakeland and Bon Brae streets.

According to a release, department officials are “aware of the hazards created by increased traffic on residential streets in the area…”

In response to this, the department has a patrol car detailed to the streets near the closure consistently, according to the release, and urge drivers to drive slowly and safely through the surrounding neighborhoods.

The department also encourages residents to report drivers who run stop signs or travel the streets too fast.

The department asks resident to call (586) 445-5300 and select option 1.

“We will do our best to minimize any traffic safety issues that arise as a result of the closure,” the release stated.
