Roy O'Brien to Host Fundraiser for Fallen Wayne-Westland Firefighter

Roy O'Brien Ford will be hosting a fundraiser form 5-7 p.m. Monday for the Brian Woehlke Fund, which was established after he died fighting a fire in a strip mall.

Roy O'Brien Ford will be hosting a fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Monday for a Wayne-Westland firefighter who died while battling a fire at a strip mall in Westland on May 8.

Brian Woehlke went missing about 9:30 a.m., according to Click on Detroit. His body was later found in the debris of the two businesses, Electric Stick and Marvaso's Italian Grill, at the strip mall on North Wayne Road.

The 29-year-old from Dearborn had been a member of the Wayne-Westland Fire Department for only 10 months when he died. He was also a husband, and a father of a 13-month old daughter Ava.

A fund has been established to help his daughter, and WCSX-Radio will be collecting donations at the dealership. Wally's Frozen Custard will also be at the fundraiser.
