Selfridge Airmen Deployed to Southwest Asia

Nearly two dozen airmen based at Selfridge Air National Guard Base have been deployed overseas.

NearlyΒ two dozen members of the Michigan Air National Guard stationed at Selfridge Air National BaseΒ have been deployed to a base in southwest Asia.

According to a release, the members of the National GuardΒ will be deployed for four months andΒ will provide security to U.S. and allied air operations while deployed.Β 

β€œOur Security Forces members, in teams like this and periodically as individuals, have been called upon many times over the past several years to support operations both domestically and overseas,” said Capt. Christopher Platz, commander of the 127th SFS atΒ Selfridge, in a release. β€œWhile being away from loved ones is always a challenge, our Airmen have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment and dedication to serving our nation and state by answering calls such as this.”

Nearly 500 Airmen from SelfridgeΒ have served on some type of deployment during 2013 to locationsΒ including Guam, Germany and southwest Asia, according to a release.
