Senior Robbed by Pair Posing as Family Members

The following information is gathered from the St. Clair Shores Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

St. Clair Shores Police were called March 20 to a home in the 19900 block of Gaukler for a report of a theft of money and jewelry.

Officers spoke with the daughter of an 89-year-old resident who said a man and woman came into her house claiming to be her niece and nephew.

The homeowner said the female called her auntie, and because she did not have her glasses on at the time, she let her in.

The woman reportedly then asked the homeowner how she was feeling, and said a prayer with her. She then asked if the homeowner could break a $100 bill.

They walked to her bedroom where the homeowner kept a small safe. While in the bedroom, an unknown male walked into the house and into the bedroom. The resident thought it was her nephew.

After they left, the homeowner's daughter came over and discovered money and jewelry missing.

The couple was described to be about 30-years-old with brown hair and had heavy winter jackets.
