St. Clair Shores Woman Files Gender-Bias Suit Against Macomb County

A former Macomb County Animal Control worker has filed a gender-bias lawsuit against the county.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI β€” A St. Clair Shores woman has filed a lawsuit against Macomb County Animal Control Chief Jeffrey Randazzo and the county for gender bias in her March firing. The lawsuit seeks compensation for present and future economic loss, among other things.

Danielle Reske filed the gender-bias lawsuit earlier this month, believing she was fired because of her gender. Randazzo, who declined to comment on the suit, was named chief by Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel in 2013.

β€œCounty attorney John Schapka said Friday the county only received word of the legal action Thursday. β€œWe hope to have the opportunity to learn more about the plaintiff’s position and any supporting evidence and the defendant’s position and any supporting evidence,” Schapka said. β€œRegardless, the claim does not appear to be particularly strong. The county will defend this matter vigorously.”
The county terminated (Reske) last March 16 following a March 9 β€œLoudermill hearing” in front of county Human Resources officials. A Loudermill hearing provides due process to an employee.”
