HWDPS Director James Burke said in the release the resident received a Nixle broadcast describing the suspect about 20 minutes before observing the male in the area.

“I would like to thank the caller for his assistance and again remind the community that the best defense against crime is to keep an eye on your neighborhood and report anything that is out of the ordinary,” Burke said in the Nixle broadcast.

Burke also urged citizens to subscribe to the Nixle service.

“If you have neighbors, family, or friends who are not subscribers to Nixle, this may be a good opportunity to get them to do so,” he added.
