Wild Turkey Flies "A-Fowl" Into St. Clair Shores Home

A St. Clair Shores homeowner had an unusual breaking and entering this week when a wild turkey busted through a bedroom window and into a house on Joy street.

When a bird usually flies into a window of a home, it gets startled and flies away without much damage.

But when a wild turkey flew into a window of home this week, it was a bit too large to bounce off the glass and fly away.

A resident in the 23000 block of Joy called police about 2:30 p.m. Thursday after hearing a loud crash in her home.

The homeowner went into the bedroom where she heard the noise and found a large, wild turkey that had crashed through the 3-foot by 4-foot bedroom window and was standing between the bed and wall.

According to a police report by the evidence technician who responded, the resident stated the turkey then jumped onto the window and flew away. The bird's breaking and entering reportedly damaged the window, screen and blinds, and the turkey's blood was found on the bedspread and carpet.

A search of the area for perpetrator was unsuccessful.

This is the latest wildlife spotted in St. Clair Shores. Last week residents posted photos on the St. Clair Shores Patch Facebook page of deer found roaming through a neighborhood.
