1. Southwest MI township sees record turnout for 300-megawatt solar, battery system proposal (wwmt.com) — A major 300‑megawatt solar and battery project just outside Three Rivers in Fabius Township has cleared a key hurdle, with the Planning Commission unanimously recommending approval despite intense public debate. Residents packed the meeting to argue over farmland use, views, and property values, while officials stressed new state law leaves them little choice if the project meets local ordinances. The township board will now make the final decision, with construction possible as soon as 2027.

3. Woman enters plea in Mendon CSC case – WLKM Radio 95.9 FM (wlkm.com) — A former Three Rivers resident who worked under contract for Mendon Community Schools has entered a no-contest plea to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving Mendon High School students. Prosecutors say several additional charges were dropped under the agreement, and sentencing is set for Jan. 23, with each count carrying a possible prison term of up to 15 years.
   

4. James Larson, 81 – WLKM Radio 95.9 FM (wlkm.com) — Longtime Three Rivers resident James “Jim” Larson, 81, who managed the local JCPenney and later owned Frosty Bowl and South Lanes bowling centers, has passed away. Friends can pay respects Friday, Dec. 12, from 4–7 p.m. at Hohner Funeral Home on Arnold Street, with memorial gifts suggested to Immaculate Conception School or the Three Rivers Youth Bowling League.
   

5. Crystal Studabaker, 42 – WLKM Radio 95.9 FM (wlkm.com) — Three Rivers is mourning Crystal Nicole Studabaker, 42, who moved here in 2017 and worked at Harding’s while staying active in nearby Colon and Marcellus. Loved for her humor, compassion, and Buckeye pride, her cremation has taken place, with a graveside service at Bly Cemetery in Marcellus to be scheduled later; Ray Funeral Services in Three Rivers is handling arrangements.
