Downriver Soroptimist's Third Annual Charity Golf Outing
Fundraiser to "Save the Girls"
The Downriver Soroptimists hosted their very successful third golf-outing fundraiser on June 7, 2025, at Wesburn Golf & Country Club, 5617 S. Huron River, in South Rockwood. The perfect weather pleased the one hundred twenty-six people who were in attendance. One hundred eight were golfers who participated in the four-person shotgun scramble. Tee-time started at 8:00 A.M. The cost of $100 per person, which included the greens fee, food and beverages, and door prizes. A variety of raffles, gift baskets and gift cards, 50/50 raffles, golfing cash prizes, a $500 Carl’s Golf Land gift card, $400 VIP tickets for Detroit’s Summer Cruise Series, and gift bags were also a part of the event.
The Soroptimists raised over $16,000, with the proceeds going to help fund the Soroptimist educational scholarship programs to Downriver women, as well as funds for the various service projects that help support women and girls in a variety of ways that include human trafficking awareness, education, healthcare, and domestic violence. Fallon Belisle, the golf outing chairperson, and a multitude of Soroptimist members made this year’s event more outstanding than last year.
