PHOTO: Veterans Gala Takes Off in Grosse Ile
Fireworks capped a grand evening that honored Vietnam veterans at the Grosse Ile Municipal Airport.
With military aircraft, classic cars and fireworks, the Grosse Ile Veterans Gala at the Grosse Ile Municipal Airport on Friday, Sept. 14, proved a big success, according to gala chairman Kerry Diehl.
Local 4 Director of Meteorology Chuck Gaidica served as the honorary emcee for the event, which paid special tribute to Vietnam veterans.
The Sea Cadet Corps presented the colors; Terri Crawford performed the national anthem; Sharon Tocco sang “God Bless America”; and VFW Post Commander Dale Abbuhl said the pledge of allegiance.

The band Fifty Amp Fuse provided entertainment, and fireworks by Ace Pyro and Dr. Ronald Morris concluded the program.
Diehl said attendance exceeded that of last year's event.
