Here are five things you should know this week in Trenton and on Grosse Ile.

- Big changes. Demolition is expected to begin Monday morning at the former Riverside Hospital in Trenton.
- New updates. Expect to see information on Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch regarding citations issued to the Township of Grosse Ile by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration after the workplace death of James Farrell.
- Volunteers needed. The Trenton Community Garden is always in need of volunteers to help cultivate and harvest vegetables used to feed local folks in need. Call 734-675-7300 to find out how to help.
- On the agenda in Trenton. The lone meeting on today's Trenton municipal and school district schedule is a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Board of Education Conference Room, 2603 Charlton Road. Important items on the agenda are enrollment information for schools of choice, a presentation of the Michigan Merit Exam results and an evaluation of transportation services.Â
- The weatherman says ... The heatwave is over. Expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms and temperatures around 80 degrees Monday and Tuesday and partly sunny skies with similar temperatures the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service.
