The smell of smoke still hangs in the air outside just hours after an early-morning two-alarm fire spread through the northwest corner of the building, extensively damaging the patio area of the popular Troy restaurant.

were able to put out the blaze, though a representative from the department said it took nearly three hours to fully contain the fire. There are no injuries reported.

“It was confined to that northwest patio area," he said, adding that, depending on the extent of the smoke and heat damage to the rest of the restaurant, "I would think they could reopen later this week."

"The fire seems limited to the patio," Kona Grill Manager Steve Morowsky agreed as he surveyed the damage to the building. Morowsky said he learned about the fire when he received a call from the alarm company at 3:49 a.m.

Kona Grill management is wasting no time starting with repairs, and as of 8 a.m., crews were already inside the building cleaning up the mess. Morowsky confirmed that, as long as the fire is mostly contained in the patio, they should be able to re-open soon – possibly as soon as this weekend.

"We will reopen as soon as possible," he said, "and we apologize for the inconvenience to our customers."
