2 Troy High Students Earn Eagle Scout Rank

Boy Scouts Jacob Savage and Alexander Wang, of Troop 1707, recently completed service projects to become Eagle Scouts.

students and Boy Scouts Jacob Savage and Alexander Wang, both 16, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout – the highest possible rank – after completing ambitious community service projects.

Wang, who holds a 4.2 GPA, plans to pursue a degree in biology at the University of Michigan. He is also a Science Olympiad and a member of Physics Club, Project LEAD, Chinese Club, National Honor Society and Fiddlers. For his community service project, Wang built three benches with help from volunteers. The benches are in the vicinity of Troy High School.

Savage, who holds a 3.4 GPA, plans to pursue a career as a pilot or aeronautical engineer at the Air Force or Naval Academy. Savage is a member of the Troy High School cross country team, swim team, track team, marching band, symphonic band, symphony orchestra, French club and low brass ensemble. For his community service project, Savage built two wheelchair retrieval carts to be used at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Detroit. Savage also received the Medal of Merit for Outstanding Service in Implementing Scouting Skills after saving his friend's life when his friend's harness failed on "The Ninja" roller coaster ride at Six Flags over Georgia.
