
What will the kids do this summer? With five more weeks before Labor Day weekend, it's even more important to keep them occupied in mind and body.
Here are five summer camps offered through the Troy Recreation Department which maintain availabilities as of Monday afternoon. For more information or to register, call (248) 524-3484.
1. Fame Performing Arts Camp (Grades 2-6: 134070E)
This camp, offered at Larson Middle School, is a week-long "odyssey into the world of jazz, dance, theater, music, and art." No experience is required, but campers will be grouped by experience. Be sure to bring a daily bag lunch.
- Session: Aug. 5-9
- Time: 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday
- Cost: Residents are $125, non-residents are $135
This camp at the Troy Community Center, is a science and robotics camp that allows kids to build and take home a "Robotfish with big, puffy cheeks." Kids will learn about gears and circuits as the have fun building it and watching it move in a miniature pool, propelled forward by a left/right moving tailfin.

- Time: 9 a.m. to 12 noon
- Cost: Residents are $163, non-residents are $173
This camp, in which registration is required by 4 p.m. on Aug. 9, is held at the Troy Community Center. It's modeled after the TV show, "Survivor," with campers divided into five tribes and forced to work together. Campers will need to bring a healthy lunch, sunscreen, snack, and water bottle.

- Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Cost: Residents are $165, non-residents are $175
This camp, in which registration is required by 4 p.m. on Aug. 9, is held at the Troy Community Center. Campers will be introduced to sports such as soccer, basketball, kickball, and more. They should bring a water bottle, healthy lunch and snack, sunscreen, swimsuit, and towel.

- Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Cost: Residents are $165, non-residents are $175
This camp, in which registration is required by 4 p.m. on Aug. 9, is held at the Troy Community Center. Each week will involve water-themed activities and contests, speakers on water rescue/safety, a pizza party, a field trip to an area water park, and a lot of non-structured swimming time each day. Campers should bring a water bottle, healthy lunch and snack, sunscreen, swimsuit, and towel.
