METRO DETROIT, MI — Looking for some weekend winter wonderland activities? Consider the below ideas to add to your calendar.

1. Shred it at the slopes. Check out local ski/snowboard spots like Alpine Valley, Mt. Brighton in Brighton and Mt. Holly Ski and Snowboard Resort in Holly.

2. Be amazed by the Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker at the Fox Theatre. The Moscow Ballet consists of nearly 40 incredible members and the sets were hand painted in Russia and designed by Academy Award nominee Carl Sprague. Show times: Sunday, Dec. 18 at 12 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

3. Want a fashion fix? Head to the "Fashion D. Fined: The Past, Present And Future of Detroit Fashion" at the Detroit Historical Museum (5401 Woodward Ave., Detroit). Hours: Fri. 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Sat.- Sun. 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Admission: Free.

4. Get into the classic Christmas spirit by enjoying a performance of It's a Wonderful Life at the Redford Theatre (17360 Lahser Rd.). Show times: Friday, Dec. 16 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Admission: $7.

5. Hit up the Mitten Market - a annual pop-up holiday market showcasing over 70 Michigan vendors selling art, design, crafts, food, gifts, vintage and antique goods. Date: Saturday, Dec. 17 from 6 p.m. - 11 p.m. at the Royal Oak Farmers Market (316 E 11 Mile Rd., Royal Oak).
