5-Year-Old Boy Killed In Hyperbaric Chamber Explosion In Troy: Police

TROY, MI β A 5-year-old Royal Oak boy was killed in a Friday morning explosion at a medical facility in Troy, according to police.
Police said a hyperbaric chamber exploded inside the Oxford Center, which is located on Kirts Boulevard, near Livernois Road at 8 a.m. Friday morning.
The boy's mom, who was standing next to the chamber, was also injured in the explosion, according to police.

Police said the explosion was contained to just a single room and no one else was injured in the incident.

Police did not say what the child was being treated for while in the chamber, which has five times the amount of oxygen in a normal room, making it highly combustible.
Social workers from the Oakland Community Health Network have made themselves available to work with emergency personnel who responded to the scene and medical staff at the facility.
