9-Year-Old Accidentally Shoots Himself At Troy Home: Police
Police said the shooting happened Friday at a home on Crooks Road.

TROY, MI — A 9-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday after he accidentally shot himself in the head, Troy police said.
Officers responded to the home on Crooks Road shortly after 4:10 p.m. after receiving a call about an injured child. When officers arrived, they found the boy, who was bleeding from his head.
The child was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He remains in critical condition.

Police recovered a gun inside the home and are working to determine how the child gained access to the weapon, as well as the circumstances that led to the incident.
The child’s mother was present in the home at the time of the shooting, police said.
