Alleged Hit And Run Driver Had License Suspended 27 Times: Police

Police say the alleged hit and run driver's preliminary breath test came in at .223 percent blood alcohol content.

TROY, MI — Troy police arrested an alleged hit and run driver who has had her license suspended 27 times, according to a police report. The driver's blood alcohol content was a whopping .223 percent, according to a preliminary breath test taken at the scene.

Police were conducting an investigation at the scene of a hit and run accident in the area of E. Maple Rd., west of Stephenson Highway, on Jan. 17 at 8:01 p.m. Police alleged the at-fault driver drove away from the scene in a gold 2000 Chevrolet Impala. However, officers found the Impala, as the driver — a 33-year-old Hamtramck woman — had pulled into a parking lot and was sitting in the driver’s seat, according to the police report.

According to police, the woman's breath reeked of alcohol as she spoke. She reportedly admitted to consuming alcohol earlier and police say she performed several sobriety evaluations poorly. She was arrested after consenting to the field sobriety test and was transported to the Troy Police Lock-up Facility, according to the police report. Upon being read her Chemical Test Rights, she refused to submit to another breath test, police say.
