Big Beaver Shuttle Service Will Continue

Despite low ridership, city leaders have decided to keep the bus shuttle service going for now.

TROY, MI — Despite modest ridership, Troy City Council plans to keep the Big Beaver shuttle service. Only 6,300 people have utilized the service, which features a loop from Livernois Road to Coolidge Highway, since last December. Troy provides the service in partnership with SMART.

“In essence, you have to build it and see if they will come,” said Councilman Paul McCown. “I feel we’ve wasted effort if we back out.”
“I don’t think we’ve given it enough time,” Mayor Pro Tem Ellen Hodorek said of the program.
