Bus Safety Tips for Troy Students and Parents

Parents, it is important to introduce new school bus riders to bus safety rules and refresh older students to prevent tragic accidents during the 2013-14 school year. 

The new school year starts Sept. 3 and there will be additional traffic on the road, especially near schools in the mornings and afternoons during drop-off and pick-up times.

1. Be aware of moving traffic.
2. Leave plenty of time to get to the bus stop. Don’t rush.
3. Pay attention to your surroundings; listening to your music player or playing handheld video games may lead to distractions and potential injury.
4. Don’t wear a hood as it makes it more difficult to hear and see traffic.
5. Stay at a safe distance from the street and don’t play around while waiting for the bus.
