Busted: Young Couple Facing Multiple Charges After Troy Police Discover Weed, Concealed Weapon
Hazel Park man and Waterford woman found in parking lot of TFiFridays on W. Big Beaver Road.
TROY, MI β A 21-year-old man from Hazel Park and a Waterford woman were arrested on narcotics and other charges March 4 after being spotted by Troy Police in the parking lot of a W. Big Beaver Road TGiFridays. Both suspects were charged with possession of marijuana with Intent to sell, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of stolen property, and possession of burglary tools, according to Troy Police reports.
An officers was driving through the restaurant parking lot at about 11:41 p.m. and observed a black 2016 Dodge Ram parked with two people inside. Upon seeing the officer, the 21-year-old man quickly placed a backpack that had been on his lap in the rear seat area. As the officer approached, an odor of marijuana could be detected flowing from inside the vehicle.
The passenger, a 23-year-old female from Waterford, was observed trying to cover something with her left hand in the center console and when asked, she surrendered a marijuana cigarette to the officer. The suspects were asked step out of the vehicle to which they complied. While being patted-down, the officer located $1,587 from the male suspectβs left front pocket.

While searching the vehicle, the officer located a loaded Ruger LCP .380 Handgun in the glove box. This firearm was discovered to have been reported stolen out of Ferndale. Found in the backpack was suspected marijuana in a plastic bag, along with several mason jars and a pop-top container that all contained suspected marijuana. The backpack also contained a digital scale that contained suspected marijuana residue. Inside the vehicle tool box was another scale containing suspected marijuana residue and some pop-tops that contained suspected marijuana. Also in the tool box were two sets of needle-nose pliers and a Snap-On tool used for prying.
In the center console, the officer located an orange pill bottle that contained suspected marijuana. The suspected marijuana was field tested with a narcotics test kit with the officer receiving a positive reaction for the presence of marijuana.

Drunk Driving: A 29-year-old woman from West Bloomfield was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated after being stopped by Troy officers on northbound I-75, north of W. Wattles Road. The incident occurred at 2:17 p.m.
Officers initiated a traffic stop on a red 2010 Ford Focus that was being driven erratically. The officers spoke with the woman, who admitted to drinking alcohol at a Detroit establishment. She was asked to perform several sobriety evaluations to which she did but the officers noted that she performed poorly. She submitted to a Preliminary Breath Test with a result of .188%.
Navigation systems stolen: On March 6, Troy Police discovered five vehicles with stolen navigation systems in the 2000 block of John R Road. Police were called to the scene by the owner of a 2017 Buick Enclave, whose system was stolen. There were no signs of forced entry on the Enclave, but police said door windows had been smashed on other vehicles. Police reports indicated the thefts likely occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
