The musical comedy is two shows in one where the narrator, a character only identified as “Man in Chair,” finds an escape from his ordinary life and drab apartment by listening to his favorite Broadway cast recordings. He plays for the audience his 1928 original recording of his favorite musical, The Drowsy Chaperone.
As the record plays, the story materializes all around him in his apartment. At times ridiculously funny, the show is marked with a comic and charming book, with songs and dances that entertain, amuse and impress.
