The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Crash investigations
John R and East Long Lake Road, July 12, 1:33 a.m.: Troy officers were dispatched to an accident scene with a vehicle in the ditch. The driver a 17-year-old Troy resident stated he was attempting to make a u-turn but hit gravel and went into the ditch. The driver was found to be driving on a suspended license. The driver was arrested for driving while license suspended and cited for failure to use due care and caution.
Credit, check, identity theft, other fraud
1000 block of Carpenter, July 1-2, 12 noon: Complainant reported he discovered that four counterfeit checks had been passed from his checking account. Checks were passed at Meijer in Taylor, Livonia, Southfield and Trenton.
3000 block of Schoolhouse, March 24, 12 noon: Complainant advised she was contacted by a collection agency trying to collect a debt. Complainant was advised a “Payday Loan” was taken out on March 24 in her name and social security number but different address. The loan amount was $510.

6000 block of Smithfield, June 26 to July 8, 12 noon: Citizen reported her identity was stolen and credit cards from Old Navy, JcPenney, Macy’s, Wal-Mart and Radio Shack were opened in her name. Resident was notified of fraud from Lifelock.
2000 block of Gulliver Street, June 1-15, 12 noon: Resident stated her MasterCard was used for unauthorized purchases at Macy’s and Kohl’s.

5000 block of Buckingham Place, July 6, 2:47 p.m.: Resident advised her husband went to use their debit card and was denied. Resident called the bank and discovered an unauthorized charge of $185.93 at a Sears store in Massachusetts. Resident advised they did not make these charges to the account.
100 block of Eckford, July 6-8, 12 noon: Resident was contacted by MasterCard advising his credit card was used to make a purchase in India. Resident advised he did not give permission for the purchase. The purchase was denied.
1000 block of Condor, July 10, 5 p.m.: Resident reports her debit card had been compromised and $200 is missing from her account.
Drugs/narcotics
West Big Beaver and Lakeview, July 11, 3 p.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle with tinted windows. The driver a 21-year-old Detroit resident did not have a driver’s license. Officers discovered the driver was suspended five times and had warrants for his arrest. The officers conducted a pat down of the suspect who advised the Officer he had marijuana in his shoe. The suspect was arrested for driving while license suspended and possession of marijuana.
West Big Beaver and Crooks, July 11, 4:27 p.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle with an expired license plate and a cracked windshield. The driver a 23-year-old Detroit resident did not have license. Officers discovered the driver’s license to be suspended 18 times. The officers conducted a search on the vehicle prior to impounding it and discovered a bag of suspected marijuana under the driver’s seat. The driver was arrested for driving while license suspended and possession of marijuana.
Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs
John R and Hopedale, July 12, 12:51 a.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle after observing the vehicle weave out of its lane several times. The driver a 35-year-old Troy resident was observed with a strong odor of intoxicants coming from her person. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
Rochester Road and Wattles, July 12, 3:11 a.m.: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle after observing the vehicle failing to maintain its lane and speeding. The driver identified as a 21-year-old Rochester resident was extremely nervous and the officers detected a strong odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle. The driver failed field sobrieties and was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. A blood test was performed with results pending.
Home invasions
2000 block of Senora, June 30 to July 7, 10:46 p.m.: Resident just returned home from vacation and discovered the house had been broken into through the back sliding door-wall. Resident reports $1,000 in cash along with social security cards and passports were stolen from the safe in the bedroom.
4000 block of Navin Field, July 9, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Resident advised she left for work and left the garage door open. Sometime during the day her Stroller, hockey skates and golf clubs were stolen from the garage.
Larcenies
6000 block of Montclair, June 25, 12:15 p.m.: Resident reports he put his mail in the mailbox to be delivered. Resident then checked his account and found a charge for $69.75 to a Wal-mart in Livonia that he did not make. Resident believes someone stole his mail and made a forged check used at Wal-mart.
Troy Sports Center, 1819 East Big Beaver Road, June 8-9, 1-3: p.m.: A Metamora resident advised he went to play hockey at the sports arena and left his wallet in a locker in the locker room. Someone stole $120cash from his wallet.
Larcenies from autos
Fischer Body, 1759 Maplelawn, July 5-8, 8 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.: Employee advised four rims and tires were stolen off a 2013 Cadillac CTS parked in the lot. The passenger door was also damaged. Estimated value of parts and damage $4,000.
Suburban Toyota, 1821 Maplelawn, July 6-8: Complainant reports four 20 inch rims and tires were stolen off two 2013 Toyota 4Runners. Approximate value of the rims and tires is $2,000.
Stephenson’s Carpet Cleaning, 1354 Combermere, July 7-8, 10 p.m. to 8:15 a.m.: Employee reported a vehicle parked in the lot overnight was now missing all four doors and a broken rear window.
Embassy Suites, 850 Tower Drive, July 10-11, 8 p.m. to 11 a.m.: A Metamora resident reports while her vehicle was parked in the parking lot. Someone shattered her 2013 Town and County Driver’s side window and stole the navigation system.
Malicious destruction of property
2000 block of Homewood, July 7-9, 4:30 p.m. to 9 a.m.: Resident reports while she was out of town some of her landscaping was damaged. The resident observed that only her Rose bushes were damaged with what appeared to be a chemical spray and a statue was smashed. The resident is part of the Troy Garden Society and thinks this may be related. The total value of damage $1,000.
Retail fraud
Target, 1301 Coolidge Highway, July 10, 12:18 p.m.: Target loss prevention advised a 21-year-old Troy resident selected four Nintendo DS video games and then put them in her purse. The suspect exited the store failing to pay. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the games. Total value of the merchandise $69.95. The suspect was arrested for retail fraud.
Kohl’s, 500 John R Road, July 10, 3:30 p.m.: Loss prevention officers advised a 52-year-old Troy resident selected three boxes of cream, underwear, flip-flops and conceal them in her purse. The suspect then left the store without paying. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise. The suspect was arrested for retail fraud. The total of the amount stolen $251.
Kohl’s, 500 John R Road, July 11, 2:55 p.m.: Loss prevention officers reported an 18=year-old Detroit resident was observed selecting a pair of shoes and concealing them in her purse. The suspect left the store without paying for the shoes. Loss prevention officers stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise. Total value of the shoes $59.99. The suspect was arrested for retail fraud.
Sears, 300 West Fourteen Mile Road, July 11, 5:45 p.m.: Loss prevention officers advised a 17-year-old Hazel Park resident was observed selecting jewelry and concealing it in his pants pocket. The suspect then left the store without paying for the jewelry. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the jewelry. Total value of the stolen item is $79.99. The suspect was arrested for retail fraud.
Macy’s, 500 West Fourteen Mile, July 11, 6:41 p.m.: Macy’s loss prevention officers advised a 17-year-old Sterling Heights resident and a 17-year-old Troy resident were observed selecting merchandise and concealing the merchandise on their bodies. The suspects then exited the store without paying. Loss prevention stopped the suspects and recovered the merchandise which value at $143.84. The suspects were arrested for retail fraud.
